Technical sheet · Ceres UnwasteCeres Unwaste tells you what you have at home and what is about to expire. Here are the name and the sign: a barcode that grows into an ear of wheat.Ceres: a goddess, a dwarf planet, no waste.

Ceres: Ceres is the Roman goddess of agriculture and the harvest: the word “cereal” comes from her.

Dwarf planet: Ceres is also the largest dwarf planet of the asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter. OcraMars is named after Mars: Ceres is its next-door neighbour in space.

Unwaste: It says what the app does: nothing goes to waste.

Read from the bottom to the top.

The barcode: Everything starts there. You scan the groceries and the app keeps track of the expiry dates.

The golden band: It is the tie of the sheaf of wheat and also the belt of asteroids Ceres orbits in. It separates the shopping from the harvest.

The stem and the two grains: The central bar of the code grows into an ear. The grains have irregular shapes, like the asteroids of the belt.

The planet: On top there is Ceres, drawn as an octagon like all the planets of the OcraMars family.

The crater: It stands for Occator, the most famous crater of Ceres. The golden spot in the middle recalls its bright spots, photographed by the Dawn probe: they are salt deposits that reflect the light of the Sun.
